12th JAN 2016 marks the end of old Internet Explorer, specifically version 8, 9, and 10! You can still use them, but if a new security hole is discovered (which soon will be) your browser will remain the same and your system will be in danger. Microsoft made it clear that they will no longer provide security updates or technical support for these versions of its browser. In this way, you will be leaving no choice but to upgrade your IE version to latest 11 (not preferred) or switch to other browsers like Edge (Microsoft’s new browser), Google Chrome, Firefox or Safari etc.
According to nermarketshare.com (the pie chart above), almost 20% of internet users (on desktop) are still using IE 8, 9, and 10! When Microsoft made an official statement, we take this opportunity to treat it seriously. Believe it or not, it is actually a great news for web designer or developer like us because we do not need to concern about modern CSS works (animation and effect) and compatibility issue in these browser versions. It is pointless to continue providing support and troubleshoot on security flawed browsers (which Microsoft is going to ignore them as well). These browsers are simply not safe to use and outdated.
We recommend our clients to use Chrome as it is by far (in our opinion) having the greatest acceptance to a lot of modern scripts. We will be, however, using Firefox for our web development purpose especially when you want to make sure something is working not only in Chrome environment (sometimes chrome just stores too much “cache” and “history”).
Therefore, PAKO will no longer provide any compatibility support to our existing and new clients in these outdated and retired browsers. We can install a browser checker script for you to alert and warn your site visitors (optional) before they enter your blank site or broken page with missing elements.
Goodbye IE 8, 9, and 10!
